A complete waste of time. There were only 2 financial companies I was really interested in talking to.

The first one: I knew just from looking at the booth attendant this wasn't going to be good; a woman in her mid-40s who clearly spent way too much time on her hair and make-up this morning. Kind of milfy, which means totally bitchy. I asked the normal question, "Are you looking for anything special here today, or just seeing who's out there?" and she said, "Well, what are you looking for?" "I'm looking for you!" I said, jokingly. She said, "No, what position, exactly, are you interested in?"

Am I crazy, or is that not how this is supposed to work? I mean, it's a job fair, at my school. They came to me, and now I'm expected to know the exact job I want from them? Luckily, I looked into them and was going to ask about a specific program they have, anyway. She told me all of the qualifications before telling me it's full, and won't reopen until after I graduate. Then she said the only job they had available was a "retirement benefits analysis associate training program" (was she expecting me to say that?), and that if I wanted to know more, I could apply online.

The second one: They were talking to another guy at the booth, and I wanted to listen in. He asked them pretty normal questions, "What are you looking for? What do you have to offer?" They told him a couple of things, I couldn't hear it all because of the noise in the room, but they kind of brushed him off with the old "apply online for more information." He left pretty underwhelmed. Then the guys at the booth started making fun of him for "being so stupid." I didn't even bother talking to them, after that.

That first one really pissed me off. Like I'm so fucking stupid for asking what positions they're looking to fill. Am I wrong?
