I'm starting to feel the same way OP. I don't have a dependence on alcohol but for the last year and half or so I find myself drinking about 3-4 times a week. Weekends are especially bad as I'm usually with friends who are heavy drinkers.

I've put on quite a bit of weight (about 25lbs) and I believe my drinking is playing a decent part in that.


I promised myself yesterday in fact that I'd put it on hold for some time. I can't say I want to become sober as alcohol plays a large part in my family and friends, but at least go a few a months without it before returning to it in moderation.

I don't believe it'll be that difficult as I don't crave it per say but peer pressure and stress can be a bitch. Nothing like unwinding from a long day of work with some rum or wine.
