Ya, this was the the line that was used during the Bush years...well sort of.
What they would say was, I respect the office of the Presidency.
Which is a way of sidestepping any critical thought about what the President is doing.

It is used as a tool to promote subordination towards the current administration at worst, and intellectually lazy at it's best.

Funny thing is, you never heard this line used during the Obama years.

that's because during the obama administration there was a massive surge of conservatives who just wanted to break the fucking system. people like that have no respect for anything that doesn't directly benefit themselves.
