| Topic | Anyone have Yooka-Laylee? How is it? |
| YonicBoom 04/12/17 2:37:19 AM #5: | So far it looks pretty crap, but I don't play games so this is purely based on watching a friend/the internet play it. Basically, just play Banjo Kazooie if you want that. No new game will ever be the same. It looks like they tried really really hard to make Yooka Laylee look and sound like B-K, but in doing so they missed the mark by a considerable margin and honestly, it looks worse in every way. B-K looks very hand-made, bespoke, original. Everything fits in with the next thing. The music matches the environments, the textures match the other textures and the characters seem to "belong" in the different worlds of B-K. Yooka Laylee lacks that cohesiveness. Nothing seems to match up quite the way it should. Characters that should seem clever just aren't, like a bad dad joke told by the worst dad you know. It's like they designed the game from a bin of random parts that weren't made to work with each other.
