Everybody likewise when I was young would say "just go right away after high school". "Start your generals". I'm sorry, but I'm not throwing away time and money unless I know there's something specific I wanna get out of it. You'd have to major in something anyway. Trade schools are an alternative if you wanna build a certain skill set without an ass ton of debt. Honestly, it depends on what you want. But college isn't a cakewalk. If you go into that without a purpose, you're gonna burn out and waste a ton of money. But if you told me you wanted to be something like a doctor or physicist or something, if say go for it.
