Topic	What are bad reasons to get a pet?

I think I know what you mean by not using it as a human replacement, especially with dog owners. What would be an example of a pet just being a pet though... Like an additional member of the family. I think it's a matter of who is dependent on who. It doesn't seem healthy to be dependent on an animal for something it cannot provide by default. But when you bring an animal, domesticated or otherwise into your home, it is dependent on you as it's caregiver. And in that, can give you a sense of companionship and appreciation in return. I'm thinking of getting a cat cause I think they seem cool and they're low maintenance.
