A WANNABE rapper who allegedly downed plates of expensive seafood before jumping into the ocean at Main Beach yesterday has been granted bail in a Gold Coast court.

Terry Peck, 33, allegedly chowed down on two lobsters, a baby octopus, 21 oyster shots and drank a number of Coronas at Omeros Bros Seafood Restaurant at Main Beach on Sunday evening to the tune of $620 before fleeing the restaurant.

When told of the quantity of food Peck had consumed, magistrate Joan White today commented incredulously: “Oh God, by himself”.

Peck faced Southport Magistrate’s Court this morning on two counts of obstructing police and one count of stealing.

After finishing his meal, Peck ran from the restaurant and was chased by staff before swimming 50m into the ocean near the lifeguard tower at Main Beach, the court heard.

After lifeguards were unable to retrieve Peck from the ocean, water police arrived.

However, Peck had to be retrieved by two police on a jetski after water police were unable to pull him from the sea about 5.30pm yesterday.

The court was told Peck then refused to get on the jetski and dived underwater to evade police.

The court heard Peck, who has a number of rap videos on his social media profile, was on parole at the time he allegedly committed the offences.

The duty lawyer also told the court Peck had been volunteering at a children’s charity.

He was granted bail on the condition he reside at a property in Labrador and not attend Omeros Bros Seafood Restaurant while on bail.
