| DevsBro 04/09/17 4:54:02 PM #5: | Palm Sunday is one week before Easter. It's a celebration of Jesus' arrival riding on a donkey and everyone putting palm leaves down to honor him. The following Friday is Good Friday, which honestly is one of the most mistaken things ever. It celebrates the night Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins. So, tbh the use of the word "good" is kind of awkward. Ultimately it was a good thing, ofc, but associations of good with happiness imply it might be more in the spirit of the proper tone to name it "Solemn Friday" or something. But the bigger problem is that if Easter is celebrated on a Sunday, the crucifixion should be celebrated on a Thursday. Jesus was in the grave for three days. Friday only gives him time for two full days, unless it was like 12:01AM on Friday and 11:59PM on Sunday. And Easter is, of course, the celebration of his resurrection. --- ... Copied to Clipboard! |
