"What's on your mind?" you ask.

"Just that, I had a bit of the opposite experience," she says. "I was always under stronger scrutiny for everything, but especially my 'bad' or 'out of line' behavior, because of who I was. And no one seemed to care what reputation that gave me."

"That doesn't seem right," you say.

"Yeah but it's understandable, given..."

"Given what?"

Raven curls her legs up onto the couch and wraps her arms around them, a high level sad stance.

"Perhaps I shouldn't have asked," you say.

"No..." she says. "I... I feel like you'd have to find out eventually, I just didn't think it'd be only a couple days after we met."

"If you don't feel ready to share something so deep and personal, I completely understand," you say.

"But you've shared so much that is deep and personal," she says. "Your family's arranged marriage tradition and your family history back over a millennium, yet all I've told you is how I met the others and how I got turned into a bunny rabbit."

"You've shared far more than that," you say.

Raven still sits with legs up, arms wrapped around them and face resting against her knees. You lean in close, wrap an arm around her, and bring her in to kiss her forehead. She smiles and with some tears in her eyes, she holds your head in her hands and kisses you on the lips.

"Promise me," she says while still holding your head in her hands, "that if I tell you who my father was... you won't think any different of me."

You see such a strong mix of apprehension, hope and desire in her eyes; it pleads that you not abandon or disown her, as only someone who has felt such feelings can communicate.

"Raven," you say as you put a hand on each of her shoulders. "You know how I feel for you. I would never judge you based on your parentage."

She smiles a bit stronger now. She then slides her hands off your face and takes your hands in hers as she sits up. She takes a deep breath and gulps down her nervousness.

"I... I am the daughter... I am the daughter of..."

She's tearing up again and has shaky breathing.

"Just breathe, Raven," you say. "Just breathe."

Raven takes another deep breath. She sniffles a little through her nose, then takes another deep breath.

"My father was Trigon the Terrible, ultimate demon of evil and rage," she says quickly. "Therefore, I'm only half human by way of my mother, now known as Arella of the mystical realm of Azarath, and half demon by way of my father. And... And even if he wasn't a demon, my father seduced and... and violated my mother, and, and she wanted to die until she was taken in by the monks of Azarath and, and--"

"Raven, you don't have to keep going," you say. "You don't have to hurt yourself confessing to me."

"I... I've never said any of that to anyone," she sobs as the tears fall.

You wrap her up tightly in your arms, feeling tears well up in your own eyes.

"I shouldn't have asked," you say.

"Don't apologize," she says between sniffles. "I... I think this is good, that I finally said it out loud. I feel... I feel better, in a way."

You loosen your arms up as she wipes the tears from her eyes. She sniffles again, then smiles.

"Thank you, Rorek," she says. "You... You helped me get rid of that burden."

"You're welcome," you say modestly.
