In the U.S. we're not doing a great job about providing quality affordable housing. Especially not in a dangerous neighborhood. It's not our job to provide "quality affordable housing" except to the extent that we allow the housing market to continue building homes. I disagree. I think we have a societal responsibility to ensure that basic needs are met. That includes having affordable, quality housing available to people. There is no obligation to provide someone else with housing. If you disagree, go vote for a candidate that promises to use your tax dollars for someone else's needs. Good luck. Our responsibilities are to ourselves and our loved ones, because god knows there's not enough money to help our own let alone other people. If we only have responsibility for ourselves, then what do we do with these people? It is a nice idea to just be able to tell people how they should have just made better choices, but that doesn't change the fact that they are who they are? What is your suggestion?
