At the cost of looking like an idiot for responding seriously to what is an obvious troll account, I'm gonna give you a real answer.

I wanna preface this by saying that I'm one of the bigger Trump detractors on this board. To be polite, the man is an unqualifed business person who is completely outside of his area of expertise and it really shows. Therefore, when I say he made the right decision here I want people to realize that's an objective thought unrelated to my feelings on that idiot.

Simply put, the US had already given Assad and ultimatum. Give up your Geneva Convention banned toys or we're gonna spank you like the naughty child you are. Once Syria showed that they didn't want to comply, we had to follow through or else other renegade countries might see it as a sign of weakness. Being tough and proactive here shows that even under the Trump administration the US isn't playing games when it comes to breaking international human rights laws. Now other countries who might step out of line have reason to pause and think if it's worth risking retaliation from the US.

Aside from that, it shows the rest of the civilized world that even though we have some internal squabbling going on politically, we're still keeping an eye on things and we're still the most powerful country in the world. If nothing else, we're gonna get some international respect for our strength and ability to respond to emerging situations quickly.

As for what the rest of the world thinks, fuck'em. Seriously, there's only a handful of countries we need to stay on good terms with. Everyone else we can give the middle finger and do whatever we want. They can cry all they want, but we're the big kids on the playground and it's our ball. They can either play the way we want or go home.

EDIT: This article from the New York Times presents it pretty well.

That completely failed to answer what's in it for us beyond more debt and wasted resources
