The fact is yer trying to draw a subtle line that today's republican party is somehow as racist as the democrat party used to be. No, I'm not saying that the Republican party is as racist as the Southern Democrats were. I'm just explaining that there was indeed a switch that occurred. As I just posted, the deep south states (Southern Democrat stronghold) were traditionally Democratic, but voted Republican as a statement of opposition to the Civil Rights Act that was passed by LBJ earlier in the year. This is when black voters started heavily supporting Democratic candidates instead of Republican candidates, and that's when the KKK did the opposite. --- ... Copied to Clipboard! |
