No. That is not a traditional loss in a military setting. At its core, a traditional battle has two opposing forces facing off against each other, both using violent means to outright kill its enemy's units and/or disrupt its enemy's logistics to starve those same units. The one dies the most... well, loses. That did not happen the way you might be thinking it did. US forces, taken as a whole and over the length of the campaign, dominated their Northern enemies. That is a fact. But in the end, the US left. That is also a fact, thus the US lost.
