This is what happens when you try to be progressive; no matter what you do, somebody's going to be pissed off.
As much as people whine about Krem I think Dragon Age Inquisiton handled the same subject matter fine.
I had no problem with how they handled Krem. He wasn't defined by his sexuality, and you had to prod him to get the info out. I have no idea how they handled the transexual character in Andromeda, but if they're apologizing and issuing rewrites, they handled it pretty poorly.
They did the same mistake baldur's gate made where you talk to them and they go
"HELLO! I came from there where they called me Eric but that wasn't me so I became Jane and then i came here nice to meet you!" bullshit.
You can't really push an agenda, if you don't push the agenda.
