Yes No View Results 26 y/o Queena Phu from Florida was brutally attacked by a serial rapist and left for dead when she was 18 y/o is finally going to Prom!! Queena's friend, Derrick Perez popped the question in a video this weekend asking her to prom who said "So i got you a little teddy bear, pink because i know you like pink" as he holds up a sign and reads it out loud as her speech, vision and mobility remain severely impaired. He said "Queena, a prom would be unBEARable without you!!" Queena was lit up as she can't speak or see much but her expression said it all. She was just one week away before prom when her life changed after the brutal attack in April 24, 2008. She was a known "bookworm" who friends remember as a bubbly, cheerful and sometimes klutzy girl. She already booked her hair and makeup appointments and picked out her dress...but on Thursday night after studying and returning books at Bloomingdale Regional Public Library, she was on her cellphone telling her friend that a "weird guy" was lurking and staring at her.. Suddenly before the line went dead as her friend heard her screams and cries for help.. 16 y/o Devonte Morris had brutally raped and strangled Queena leaving her for dead lying naked on an anthill where she was found with ant bites all over her.. Devonte already raped a 62 y/o day care worker just months earlier..he was convicted in 2011 and his sentence was life in prison with a chance for review after 20 years. Her mother spoke in court stating "You wonder, who would do such a horrible thing? What kind of creature, not a human being could do such a despicable thing. What would drive someone to commit such a heinous crime" Queena now has profound brain injuries and replays the night of the attack over and over according to her sister. Despite 9 years of rehab, she is still struggling to return to normal but the family is hoping for a miracle. Derrick and Queena met 3 years ago when Derrick's mother was treating Queena with aromatherapy as the 2 became instant friends.
