biggest reason why the vita launch is so quiet probably is because the 3ds is so loud and has been for the past 3 months, with another big month ahead of itself. Feb is a HUGE month for the 3DS. yes, RE is the big one but there's the PS2 ports with MGS3D and Tales of the Abyss.

March meanwhile is basically just Kid Icarus. maybe Rayman as i'd imagine platformers would do better on a nintendo handheld than most in the first place, and if the 3D is good it'd have something over the rest. though while i'm at it remember that onyl the retail version of Rayman PC has no DRM. downloaded versions have it, for some reason. i... honestly do like that standard too and hope it gets looked at more instead of the crap we have now - it'd give a reason to buy the discs besides just collection purposes and that result could drive some physical hardware sales again. it's weird but i'm hoping that it works.

...actually there might be a different entrant in Feb/March. it's unknown when the release date will land, but:

Rhythm Thief looks to be the first big cult game for the system and gets described as Layton meets Rhythm Heaven meets EBA. trailers are fansubbed. character introduction vid subbed so you can consider the main top tier:

short version: you're playing a badass thief in paris who wears a suit, has a cool hat, and a cool dog. story's a big deal to the game too which you can tell from the trailer (and the producer has gone down saying that story is important and that the rhythm game genre has ignored it too much). it just came out in japan not too long ago and we're expected to get it sometime soon. dude has style and def should be a game looked into. this won't get a lot of attention probably from review sites and the like, but it's definitely the kind of game that board 8 will gush over.

you'll probably hear more about the Vita in the US come April or May as things die down a bit, though we'll be entering E3 mode and asking for US releases from Nintendo with more than 3 month warning ain't happening.

and i do mean just 'a bit' because KH3DS is in Japan in March, with Fire Emblem in Japan in April. but at least by then Vita should have some footing to work with.
