That's exactly what you do!
I've managed to even get an S rank on video with the most crude recording way possible. Held a camera that could record video above the screen, set the DS on a table, and did it all one handed while holding the camera in the way. So, if you can even see what's going on through the bad quality here:
Other big thing is knowing the max amount of cuts the kyriaki will make. Best to let it sit at the max, and only suture when it's over that amount (which it'll only be from their intro cuts and when you cut them out). Otherwise, if you let there be even one less than that max, every kyriaki will cut at once, which does way too much damage to the vitals at once.
