you do realize the windows/mac argument doesn't really work seeing how android has a good 3x+ the marketshare as ios, right. ios is very unusual in that it holds similar numbers to android in terms of apps, but then again it's relatively easy to inflate those values.

split basically goes android with around 55-60%, symbian with around 14-16%, ios with around 15-17%, blackberry with around 10-12%, and everything else is everything else. symbian used to be 2 until nokia bailed, but you can expect microsoft and android to fill that void up. ios hasn't really grown much, android's the explosive one and the undeniable king of that field against everything else combined. apple isn't even the no. 1 phone creator in the world, that's samsung now. they ain't exactly winning in these fields.
