BE SURE TO READ THE QUICK RULES CAREFULLY. INCORRECTLY ENTERED PICKS WILL _NOT_ BE COUNTED.

Welcome to the 3rd annual Board 8 Academy Awards Pick ‘Em challenge. Last year’s challenge was an even bigger success than the first year with 54 entrants. I think we can beat it this year. The purpose of this challenge is to test your predicting skills in guessing who or what wins each award. Certain awards are worth more points than others. The winner of the challenge is the one who receives the MOST points and NOT who gets the most correct. Scoring is the same as it has been the last two years.

-- You must send me an email to [email protected] or PM me your submission. I'd prefer a PM. This is the only acceptable entry form. I feel this might make it a bit more challenging since you can't see what everyone else is picking. I will post in this topic confirming a message. Please post your name if sending an email.

Quick Rules
- New this year is how we're submitting picks. You can either email them to me at [email protected] or send me yours picks in a PM. These are the only two acceptable means of entry.
- Entries close the day before the Oscars. That’s Saturday February 25. Get them in before midnight ET.
- Anyone may enter!
- If you wish to CHANGE your picks. Send me another message with your updated picks. Try not to do this...
- FOLLOW FORMATTING RULES FOR SUBMITTING PICKS.
- Scoring will be calculated and reported shortly after the ceremony.

HOW THIS IS SCORED
- Three (3) points are awarded for a correct pick in the eleven major categories: Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Documentary, Best Animated Film and Best Foreign Film.
- Two (2) points are awarded for a correct pick in the ten technical categories: Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Film Editing, Best Makeup, Best Original Score, Best Original Song, Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing, and Best Visual Effects.
- One (1) point is awarded for a correct pick in the three short categories: Best Animated Short Film, Best Live Action Short, and Best Documentary Short Subject.

When two users end with the same score, ties are broken. The first tiebreaker is broken by whoever has the most correct picks. If still tied, ties will be broken based off the answers to these three questions:

How long will the Oscars run?
What film will win the most Oscars?
What category winner will give the shortest acceptance speech?

These three tiebreaking questions are scored in a best-of-three contest. Whoever guessed closest to the actual time wins a point, whoever picks the film with the most wins gets a point, and whoever picks the shortest acceptance speech wins a point. I will time each speech from the moment they start talking until they stop.
