I definitely noticed, and I prefer it to Melee.
Smash Bros. Brawl is not a perfect game, and I suppose you could call it disappointing given the ridiculous level of hype, but it was far beyond Melee in terms of quality. One of the best games this generation.
No, I don't play competitively. I just like to have fun with my friends, not to mention enjoying the oodles of fanservice the game provides.
