No way in hell do we have iTunes if piracy hadn't happened... or if at least, no way do we have it priced the way it is now, with the number of subscribers it has now. The RIAA has consistently fought very hard to keep the market where they have full control over it so that you pay outlandishly high prices for CDs and something like 5% of it goes to the artist if you're lucky.
