Would I voluntarily broaden my experience with sexual gratification at no cost to myself?
I can't really see a reason anyone would decline beyond stigmas that might be attached to the use of such a thing. If you have a mate, you can compare the doll and see how it holds up. If you lack a mate, woo hoo, one free hands free experience. If you lack a mate but are afraid of being labeled a weirdo then you can just not tell anyone and live in secret shame that you had the balls to experiment.
