Why would you think that 5 years ago when GoldenEye came out 14 years ago?
Golden Eye was a rare occasion. And was developed by one of the biggest developers at the time which is usually not the case for licenced games. Regardless it was a long time since Golden Eye and people didn't think they could be good anymore based on all the crap that come out.
