As we all know, professional wrestling and music mesh very well together, at least most of the time. A (good) theme song should be instantly recognizable, tell you what sort of wrestler this is, and by all means, sound really catchy. There is no arguing this combination has worked very well for years now, and all wrestling fans have their preference to what is their favorite. The question is: what is the best wrestling theme song?
My intention is to have 128 (or failing that, 64) theme song single elimination tournament to determine what the people of B8 believe is the best. Of course, things would be a bit hectic if there wasn't a few rules and restrictions added, right? So, let's get to it!
Rules For Nominating
1. You are allowed to nominate up to ten theme songs per every 24 hour period. If you decide to renominate after 24 hours, half of your list must be songs you have previous nominated, and the other half are songs you haven't nominated yet. That way, you're not nominating the same ten songs, or ten different songs every time.
2. Do not nominate songs that were not meant to be used as wrestling themes songs. Cult of Personality, Voodoo Child, and Enter Sandman are all awesome songs, but this tournament is about theme songs that were made by/for a wrestler to be used as a theme, and not a popular song a wrestler chose to use cause it sounded cool.
2a. Public domain, stock music, and the Jimmy Hart version (a popular song redone by a musician to avoid licensing fee) are allowed.
3. Do not nominate PPV/TV themes, except for PPV/TV themes that became more well known as a wrestler/team/stable's theme song than the PPV/TV show it was used for. No Chance (Corporation/Vince McMahon's theme song) is allowed, but the WCW Nitro theme song (Briefly used by Johnny Nitro/John Morrison) is not.
4. Only the top three themes a wrestler/team/stable nominated will be included into the tournament. For example, If Triple H's My Time, The Game, King of Kings, and Blue Blood are the four most nominated themes (in that order,) then only the top three themes will be added in.
5. If a theme song was used by a wrestler, then later became another wrestler/tag team/stable theme (or hell, the same wrestler used it when he made a team/stable or after his stable/team disbanded), please go by who/what was the most popular to use that theme. For example, Real American was originally used by the US Express, but is far more popularly known as Hulk Hogan's theme. Similarly, Kevin Nash now uses Rockhouse, but it is far more known as the nWo theme.
6. You must provide a Youtube link to the theme you want to nominate. This is to avoid any confusion on anyone's part on what you want nominated.
Keep note that I will not accept any more nominations after January 7th, 2012 at 11:59:59 PM CST. After that, I'll make the bracket, and start the competition.
