FFXII had potential. It just wasted it with its dull, badly paced story, worse characters and needlessly slow gameplay. I liked the idea behind it, and the exploration was pretty good, but it just fell flat in execution. Xenoblade, however, takes the good aspects of that (especially the exploration) and adds its own stuff. Definitely worth checking out if you liked FFXII, or like me wanted to like it.
Also, "good guy cusades" nothing, this is the sort of thing you need to support. You need to get a message out there, both for the benefit of others (seriously, acting like being selfless a little is bad what the hell) and to make sure that if this sort of thing happens to a game you want, it can be fought. Hell, I'm European and I was supporting Operation Rainfall. Speaking of which!
