Have to agree with this.
But then I never understood SMW hype. While not a bad game, it's clearly one of the weaker 2D Marios, I can't really think of anything it does better than SMB3. SMW2 at least tries to do its own thing, and aside from some kinks in the controls, succeeds very well.
