An run is unearned if:
A baserunner scores after the third out would have been made.

The 7th inning SHOULD have went like this:
Votto gets the first out on a fly ball
Pedroia throws the ball to either first or second without committing the error and getting the second out.
The last out should have been the fly out to left field.
But because of the error by Pedroia, it was only 2 outs, and 2 runs came across during the rest of the inning. Thus Gallardo is not responsible for those runs as the inning should have been over.
