It's more like the genre doesn't hold up very well anymore. Especially with old ones, the gameplay is really monotonous in retrospect. Mashmashmashmashmash, jump, kick, mashmashmashmash, pick up something, mashmash.
That's only to someone who lacks the creativity to explore the surprisingly diverse options.
It could easily go mashmashmash, jump, downward attack, grab, mashmash, jump toss. Or mashmashmash, grab, mashmash, forward special. SoR is like DMC before DMC.
All I know is this, TC better be referring to SoR3 and maybe SoR1. There's nothing clunky about SoR2.
