Yeah, I've met a man who beat a random dude (of certain ethnicity) to death after waking up and seeing that his car had been broken into. I was never friends, or even close with the guy, but he was a friend of the father of a girl I hung out with in senior year, so I'd see him at their house every once in a while.
I was also friends with a guy who assaulted someone with a police baton and then robbed him... He got 18 months or so for it. The kid was really stupid when he got drunk (I believe he was blacked out at the time) but I never really thought he'd do something that dumb. Now he's out and he's still an idiot obsessed with being a gangsta.
