Your costume sounds awesome FD, you should post a pic when it's finally done. Good idea using a NES gun for the blaster. Probably wouldn't handle it too much though or the paint will start chipping off.
I'm not sure I would recognize Amelia Earhart. I mean I vaguely recall how they made her look in the Night at the Museum movie, but I might just see "female pirate".
And my costume is slowly coming together. I'm getting ready to do the first coat of the other half of the blaster (the half that was face down last time). I think using the NES Zapper will add a nice touch of humor to it all, or at least I hope so. The inside layer for the vest is almost done as well which will be used to cut out the outside layer (in the more expensive fabric), and so that part should be looking really nice soon.
Still not sure what I'll be able to do for the holster/belt though. I'm not exactly sure how to acquire or make something that looks like his buckle. I don't want it to be all cheap and cardboard or something, but I'm not sure what I can fashion into something resembling what he has.
And I will run to the store when paint is drying again to pick up some red tape for the bloodstripes. No one I know would likely have noticed the difference, but it will make me feel better.
