When I saw the topic title, I thought the idea would be a topic series in which we vote on a superior rival for the characters in a particular day's contest match.
That is what would happen. The topic would be asking if either Mario or Sonic is the better character, not whether the Mario/Sonic rivalry is better than the Link/Ganon rivalry.
