I'll agree that they should take a secondary role (though my god, used much better in this one in that every human character did stuff and didn't take up the WHOLE thing), but they should at least do stuff. The Starscream sequence was a good example of doing stuff.

Sniper rifles and parachutes vs. Shockwave was pretty stupid though.

Also, Starscream could fight in the films, including this one... when there was no real threat. As soon as he got in danger, he freaked out like the coward he is. He was certainly the most hands-on Decepticon, but also the first to run away.

The real problems were Megatron and Shockwave, both of whom had moments and potential, but were mostly squandered. On the positive side, laserbeak was pretty creepy.
