If you want to get werehog stages over with then focus on attack.
If you want them to get better focus on combat.
Of course if you got the DLC stage it won't matter because you'll be literally swimming in experience by breaking the pots.
And with the right combination of abilities and attack power the stages will eventually be a joke.
