I know nothing of Gamespot Users. I have no idea how to go into predicting this bracket.
Western characters are more popular. PC characters as well. The top tier in this contest are probably Luigi/Yoshi/Alyx Vance/Cube/Garrus. On GameFAQs, Luigi and Yoshi (and probably Zero) would murder everyone. GameSpot's contests are also much more susceptible to 4chan rallying/cheating. Trying to pick out a match where they may interfere can be a good gamble.
For example, they rallied for General RAAM (who would be the fodderest fodder ever on this site) over Sephiroth. HaRRicH predicted this in his bracket, IIRC, and it helped him bigtime.
