Yeah, the red light coming on while playing the DS can makes things tense. I really should do a test and see how much time I really have left, because I always worry that even though I'm saving ASAP, the power will still cut out in the middle of it. If I'm at home, I'll put it in sleep mode, grab my charger, and plug it in before saving just to be safe.
When my DS was still new, I found out it could stay on for over 30 minutes while in the red.
