Last year I ran Game of the Year, which used the User of the Year format with video games instead of users to crown Board 8's favorite game. Super Mario 3 beat Super Mario 64 and Half-Life 2 in the final to win.
I'm currently in the planning stages of the second annual contest (although I'm pushing it back due to Menji starting Movie of the Year) and decided it would be pretty cool to do characters instead of games this year. I feel that with a field of 220, characters would be a much deeper contest than games (as there was a lot of fodder last year). I figure I can alternate between years or even run two contests a year if I'm up to it.
But I don't want to run Character of the Year if you guys would prefer another games contest, so I'm running a poll. I'll leave this up until votes stop coming in.
The character contest would be limited to characters that originated in games, like the GameFAQS contests.
