Issue 3 - November-December 1988 - Track & Field II
Nice shoes.
TOC -
Kind of a crappy issue game-wise. Mickey Mousecapade was way better than you'd expect, but Ultima NES, Legacy of the Wizard, Cobra Command, Racket Attack -- yeah. This'll probably be a short post.
I loved Track & Field and II was an awesome little game. It made the NES Max an absolute must-have thanks to its turbo button and, maybe more importantly, its circle d-pad (what's up 3DS). T&F2 got flat out impossible at later levels without turbo unless you had insane button mashing skills, but the games themselves had fun mechanics. Anyway, I love the art here.
Actually, here's an ad for the Max and Advantage. As if Ghostbusters II wasn't enough. That list of games to play with a Max is hilarious and stupid. For me it goes 1.) T&F2, 2.) Crystalis, 3.) T&F1.
Top 30 -
NP started highlighting new titles this issue. Gauntlet debuts really well and Mario 2/Zelda 2 dash to the top 10, presumably for a long time. Metal Gear is the big winner of the month. Zelda 2 still isn't out. damn Zelda drones.
