It was likely doing really bad because it was overpriced. I'm not sure how you aren't understanding this argument.

Yet if this was a non-Nintendo system, people would be saying how its a failure. Nintendo isn't infallible. There is literally no way you can argue that the first 6 months of the 3DS are positive in any single way, especially now with the massive price drop.

Has there ever been a system that started off this bad that ended up wildly successful? Even PS3 took longer to lower its price, and PS3 has never fully recovered. I'm not saying 3ds won't still do well... its just lost any chance of being as dominant this generation as the last few Nintendo handhelds.

...The 3DS isn't even doing nearly as bad as you seem to think it is. Look at it this way:

Super Street Fighter 4, combined, sold under 2 mil.

Super Street Fighter 4 3DS has sold almost half a million already.

A game that pretty much everybody and their mother that already wants it has it... Has sold half a million, which is half of its sales on PS3 and over half of the 360 sales.

The 3DS hasn't sold NEARLY as bad as people think it has. Nintendo just had lofty expectations because of the DS, and it hasn't hit them. And that's because it's overpriced. So how do you solve a pricing problem? Lowering the price.
