I actually felt as though the first few episodes of the second season went back down to the level of much of the first. The last eight or nine were very much quality television though.
I remember there was an episode guest-starring Jamie Bamber of Battlestar Galactica fame (lots of BSG actors on Dollhouse, including of course Tahmoh Penikett) and I was so excited to see him but just could not stop facepalming at the plot. It was quite cliche.
But that's just me and the show got so much better toward the end!
