So, for years, I actively hated DC Comics with, I still think, ample reason. I never gave Batman a shot, Superman bored me, and I was over Toonami by the time JL started coming on (and every time I tried to watch, it was that stupid episode where they all split up into pairs to fight varying threats around the world and Superman kept getting beat up at a museum).
Then a few years ago, I had the opportunity to read 52. I have been a huge fan of DC ever since. I've gone back to read Justice League International, Morrison's JLA, all of the Wally West Flash run from beginning til the end of Johns, Green Lantern: Rebirth on, Watchmen, Identity Crisis, The Dark Knight Rises, Hush, Booster Gold, and various other random issues. And I've heard so many good things about JLU that I had to try it.
It's worth it. Everything's just perfect. There are so many macro and micro storylines that weave throughout the series. There are so many characters introduced and not forgotten. Martian Manhunter is a boss. Booster Gold gets a limelight episode. The villains are well-drawn with flowing stories. The action scenes are incredible (but later trumped by Spectacular Spider-Man for superhero cartoons). The voice acting is the best talent I've heard. It's thoroughly incredible.
I've spent so much time delving on my change from hating DC to loving it that I didn't cover the show all that much, but I really don't know how to. It's just a great experience. Between the epic theme song, the well-paced story, the incredible characters, astounding voicework, and beautiful art, JLU is the best cartoon ever. No question.
Well, lots of Question. The Question is amazing and I wish he and the Huntress got more time together.
