Honestly, I'd like to still vote for a favorite game of mine even if it was going against a game I had never played. Unfortunately, with this system, my favorite games would be victims I'd think.

This is a useless option almost. If people have never played the games then they'll probably not bother to vote at all and just skip posting int he topic.
It gives people an excuse to come back every day to check results, and at the very least it can't hurt.
