his parents are awful, dunno how you can think otherwise. and the last chance he had was screwed over because he took the fall for his little brother, not his fault. and he didn't screw them out of their house, he took back the house that he felt should have been left to him anyway, because when his aunt had cancer he was the only one who cared for her and she wanted him to have it.
can't really defend him on anything else you said, but i think you were being too harsh on the above stuff.
