WCW Nitro
Airdate:
April 27th, 1998
Arena/Location: Norfolk Scope in Norfolk, Virginia
1st Half of Nitro Commentators: Mike Tenay, Tony Schiavone, and Larry Zbyszko

We Nitro with Nitro Girls! Wait, it's Alex Wright!! Captain Silly Dance is back! Security detains Wright and takes him to the back.

The announcers talk about the challenge Sting and Giant issued to the Outsiders for the World Tag Team Titles. They are still trying to figure out Hart's actions.

Nash/Savage out. Kevin Nash does the survey. Pro-WCW crowd, it seems. Nash says if Sting/Giant want the belts, come get them. Nash then says the Wolfpack is expanding. Savage is the newest member, it seems. Nash then cuts a promo on Hart, saying he's basically coming after him. Savage gets on the mic and basically says the same thing. Nash then brings out another member of the Wolfpack. Hey, it's Konnan! Considering Konnan was hanging with Nash the last few weeks, it makes sense. Konnan says that Hogan doesn't want none of the Wolfpack.

Replay of Bret Hart turning heel.

Video package for Juventud Guerrera. Juvi says he'll never quit.

Jericho out. He's got Juvi's mask and Dean Malenko poster. He insults Juvi, before he has an 'exclusive' interview with Dean Malenko...'s poster. Jericho says Malenko is the new fry cook at Harry's Burgers. Jericho then calls Malenko a quitter. He then dedicates his match to Dean Malenko.

Match One: Chris Jericho(c) vs. Chavo Guerrero Jr. w/Eddie Guerrero for the WCW Cruiserweight Championship

Chavo on a hot streak early, but the veteran Jericho is able secure a firm control, that is before Chavo sends Jericho flying into Eddie, and get a very close two count. Jericho comes back and wins with the Liontamer.

Winner, and STILL WCW Cruiserweight Champion: Chris Jericho

Eddie and Jericho have a war of words, before Eddie turns around and insults Chavo, along with Jericho. *1/4

2nd Half of Nitro Commentators: Mike Tenay, Tony Schiavone, and Bobby Heenan

The announcers talk more about Bret Hart, before they talk about Bagwell's injury. We are told on tomorrow's Nitro we'll get more about Bagwell.

Hogan, Bischoff, and Disciple out. Hogan puts himself over, and talks about the other nWo members who are turning on him.

Main Event: Bill Goldberg(c) vs. Scott Norton for the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship

Tenay claims this is the first time Goldberg's gone against the nWo. I thought he beat Vincent once..

Norton with some decent offense in, and gets the shoulder breaker on Goldberg, but only get a two. Goldberg comes back by countering a second shoulder breaker, Spear, Jackhammer, Match.

Winner, and STILL WCW United States Heavyweight Champion: Goldberg (51-0) 77-0

*1/4

The announcers talk about Bret Hart some more, and say he's an impact player. Heenan says Hart's always lookedo ut for himself.

Mean Gene interviews Bret Hart. Hart cuts a promo on Savage, claiming he's never stepped in the ring with Hart. Mean Gene asks him why he did what he did. Hart dodges the question and says tomorrow night he'll tell Hogan to his face. He says he's tired sitting on the bench, and has made his business clear.

Not much of anything of substance on this Nitro. I think this Nitro aired at like midnight, so I can understand why they didn't do anything big here. The better question is why even show it if you won't do anything? 3/10

Other Nitro Notes:

1. This was the Nitro that DX tried to 'invade' WCW, since Raw and Nitro were about twenty miles apart from each other.

2. Funny Aneurysm Moment of the Night: "The Macho Man and (...) Elizabeth, they already got one foot in the glue factory!"
