You're too concerned with making it "Marvel" than you are making it "good."

no, I don't care personally. I just don't see the point in patching every last infinite or imbalance. just let the game develop and people will either keep playing it or eventually decide it's too stupid to keep bothering with. when I say "it's Marvel" I mean the series already has a history of really dumb abusive stuff and it still turned out competitively interesting. so let this do the same. worst case scenario it turns out you made a badly designed game (which hey, Capcom since the SF4 era) and the community starts playing something else. best case scenario, it fits into the overall picture and becomes part of the metagame.

it's easy to point out games that would've been worse with changes. if 3s was a modern game it would be worse because they would've patched out a lot of stuff continuously. stuff that ended up being really competitively interesting. most likely they would've listened to the dumb people about balance and patched out what makes half the cast fun and we wouldn't have what we have now, a competitive scene where at least half the cast is viable and they're all fun to play.

Marvel 2 wouldn't even be the same game.

then there's stuff like the Alpha series. really at a high level they aren't good games, they're chock full of degenerate stuff. people abandoned them over time because other entries in the series are more solid. they could've kept patching things as they came up but fundamentally the games would be would still be what they were.

SFxT and Marvel 3 deserve to meet similar fates. figure out if they're good and play them as is. people tend to forget but Capcom has produced far more competitively unplayable games than they've produced successful ones. HF, ST, 3s, CvS2, Marvel 2, those are really the only pre-SF4 games that had an extended run in the competitive scene because they were good. it shouldn't be surprising that SFxT sucks and Marvel 3 still needs to be figured out. if they followed their old business model they'd make a SFxT2 and fix everything wrong with the first one at once. instead they're patching it a bit at a time and people keep discovering new stuff exposing that the game is kind of dumb and broken at it's core.
