I thought jumping the shark meant that the show had reached a moment that could never be topped, meaning the show could go nowhere but down, or at least to resigned mediocrity, and that the moment made all the normal stuff meaningless
That is, there was a moment so ridiculous or wall-breaking... ah you get the point
Nope. It comes from a "Happy Days" episode where the Fonz literally jumped his bike over a shark, and fans the world over complained that the show had just become something very different, and all about cheap thrills, and had 'jumped the shark' into something irreparably silly.
