Remember the sci-fi guy I mentioned? Here he is, basically an amalgamation of all my favorite traits from every sci-fi shooterguy out there. >_>; Also, this writeup is very... terse because that was the only way to make it fit in two posts.

Van d'Entente

Main character of the FPS series Funeral Planet. Investigates dying planets using a space-age mechanical armor suit.

The suit protects from:

-extreme hot and cold
-extreme gravity and pressure
-corrosive or poisonous environments
-radiation
-electric shocks
-falls from great heights
-the vacuum of space
-and everything normal armor would protect you from, e.g. blunt force, cutting attacks, etc.

It also dispenses oxygen if necessary and provides some degree of super strength (enough to lift small boulders, etc). Enough punishment can damage or destroy it.

There are a number of weapons built into Van's suit. These fire from his right hand and can be switched between at will. Each weapon has a basic shot, charged shot, and explosive variant (some effect loaded onto a missile, bomb, or grenade):

Welding Gun:
-basic shot: effectively melee range, very powerful. Used in combat and to actually weld things.
-charge shot: flamethrower. Less powerful, more range, big spread.
-explosive variant: lobs a ball of plasma that explodes on impact. Strong enough to destroy heavily armored, state of the art security doors (think futuristic bank vaults).

Chloro Gun:
-basic shot: beam of light that causes plants to grow. Only used for puzzles.
-charge shot: blast of light that causes plants to grow from wherever it hits, entangling foes. Also causes plant-based enemies to mutate wildly until unable to move.
-explosive variant: the opposite, instantly kills all plant-life in the blast radius.
--bosses and stronger enemies take multiple hits for these effects to work.

Carbon Gun:
-basic shot: holds smaller enemies in place with a space-age, fast-hardening substance.
-charge shot: shotgun-like spread that holds even larger enemies and for longer periods of time.
-explosive variant: explodes outwards in an AoE burst.
--getting frozen is actually harmless (and in some ways protective); the explosive variant will still mess you up though (it is a missile).

Spark Gun:
-basic shot: quickest firing but pretty weak. Shots are essential arcs of lightning, aggressively homing and in-game have no travel time at all.
-charge shot: stronger and if it hits an enemy, branches out from them and hits all nearby enemies.
-explosive variant: causes a lasting dome of electricity where it hits. Van can pass through this harmlessly, enemies cannot, so it can be used to trap and repeatedly damage enemies or Van can stand inside it for defense.
--Spark Gun does more damage against mechanical foes, as you might expect.

Sound Gun:
-basic shot: burst of high frequency sound. Seems harmless but wreaks havoc on your internal organs. Moves at speed of sound.
-charge shot: focused beam, travels faster and further, even through walls and enemies.
-explosive variant: causes a lasting screech which blocks out all other sound in the vicinity; mostly a gimmick.
--This is the best gun for most of the game.

Photon Gun:
-basic shot: effectively a sniper rifle. Very long range and powerful, very fast travel time (in-game, it's hitscan).
-charge shot: quickly charging (less than a second), but does nothing by itself. Allows you to fire one basic shot. Think of it more as reloading.
-explosive variant: guided missile. Van can't really multitask while guiding it.
