Robin Hood (2010) - 6.5/10

*SPOILERS*
- If I hadn't seen Scott Grimes when I started paying attention at least fifteen minutes in, I'dve been playing Xenoblade the past two hours. It was definitely a lot of fun to watch for the first hour. The Marian/Robin stuff moved wayyyyy too quickly as well as the story itself which apparently only took a few weeks. A few weeks for all the townships to burn, King John to go even crazier, and Russell Crowe to go from stockade to loved by all of England. Really, until that meeting for all the barons to come together happened at the same time as Nottingham got pillaged, it was a good movie. No, it was a great movie. But the last half was just... it was just bad. It was taking all the bad tropes from the past decade or so and just using them up. Of course Marian fights. Of course everyone joins together at the perfect time. Of course Robin is hailed and King John is jealous. Of course the arrow flies true. Of course blind Edward puts up a fight. Of course this all seems to happen in a manner of minutes and it's just Russell Crowe fightin' 'cross the world. I do like how it's a prequel to the usual story and it sets things up nicely, but it just feels way too compact and 'done to get out of the way' in the climax. All the fun was in the first half.

Best Scene: One of the Merry Men telling another that the best way to get a girl is to go after the homelier ones ala A Beautiful Mind.
