A year ago, Sess led this board on an inspirational crusade to stop the rampant racism that stained our home. We all vowed to stop being racist, and since that day we have become a shining example of progress and tolerance when it comes to racial attitudes. Sess later led the way to stopping religious discrimination last month, and this board has made great strides in doing that.
There is another area, however, that we are falling behind in. That is the area of atheist discrimination. I have noticed over the past few weeks that atheists are often times the victims of bullying and discrimination by the majority of the board. They are forced to keep their views and beliefs to themselves out of fear of being mocked and ridiculed.
That is not acceptable on our board.
We are a place where anyone of any race, gender, class, or belief can come and post freely. In the past year, you all showed that you support that notion and will fight to uphold it. Tonight, I ask you to do that one more time. Please sign this pledge to end atheist discrimination on Board 8:
I, _______, hereby pledge to not discriminate against other users based on their lack of religious beliefs or religious disbelief. I will respect all atheists regardless of if they agree with me or not. I will treat each person equally, and will not post in a manner that forces another user to feel uncomfortable about their atheism.
