I made this gif to point out the difference between BW's Unova, and the new unova.
I personally don't think the ice is gameplay relevant. I think they just threw it on there so we wouldn't be able to see the whole map
That's awesome. It looks like the Relic Castle is gone, too. And there's something new in the middle of the airport. Probably a plane. >_>
I still feel pretty certain that that much of Unova isn't actually covered in ice, but rather they're just trying to hide more changes to the map. Particularly because of this screenshot:
If the map was accurate, there would be lots of ice showing there. Instead you just see those mountains.
