I get upset that cart elwes career didn't take off like it should have, he was a great swashbuckler and the genre should have been revived with him

It is really odd. Handsome, charming, able to do action and romance, able to be serious or funny.

I feel like I've seen the majority of the films he's been in. The Princess Bride, Bram Stoker's Dracula, that weird 90s live action remake of The Jungle Book, Porco Rosso and The Cat Returns for Studio Ghibli, and this film (in progress, anyway).

Is there any story behind why his career didn't go further than it did? Personal demons, studio politics, etc.?
